Itinerary
Inside, we will have an unforgettable visit to appreciate altarpieces made of cedar wood, plastered with 18-carat gold flakes and belonging to the baroque style. In addition, you will see historical canvases representing the Andean syncretism (a fusion between Andean and Spanish cosmology).
Later, we will visit the convent of Santo Domingo, where the ancient temple of Qoricancha is located. This incredible stone structure was once known as the genesis of Andean religion and society. There is no other like it!
Then, we will board the touristic transportation towards Sacsayhuaman, where we will be able to walk through a wide flat area that is delimited by gigantic stone blocks of more than 60 tons and 6 meters high.
After that, we will travel only 5 minutes to get to Qenqo, a special site due to its carved stones. However, its most amazing feature is the underground passages that head you to an unforgettable Inca altar, which is carved in the same outcrop that composes the completely archaeological complex. Truly Amazing!
Afterwards, the transportation will take us to the highest place of the journey, Tambomachay. Here we will walk through a forest of queuña trees (polylepis) until we reach a beautiful water fountain that is embellished by stone niches and other amazing elements.
Finally, we will visit the nearby archaeological complex of Puka Pukara, which boasts a circular shaped platform that possibly got the function of controlling all the people entering and leaving the city of Cusco.
We will be back at your hotel at 17:30 hours and this will be the end of an unforgettable day.
