Itinerary
This exclusive Cusco south valley tour begins when we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 9:00 a.m. to board the touristic transportation that will take us for 50 minutes towards Tipon town.
This place is very popular for its restaurants that always offer a delicious roasted guinea pig. Although the most valuable thing we will find in Tipon is its archaeological complex from Inca times, which is one of the best samples of the high level of hydraulic engineering that this culture boasted.
Inside the archaeological complex, there are water fountains that have no specific origin and have never dried up for more than 500 years!
Then, we will travel by car for 15 minutes until we reach Pikillaqta. On the way, you will have the great opportunity to buy a traditional bread from Cusco and Peru, known as “chuta”.
Once we arrive to Pikillaqta, you will notice that the architecture of the place is completely different from the previous one. Because this construction belongs to the Wari culture, who tried to settle in this beautiful valley in front of the Huacarpay lagoon (before the Incas) to conquer these lands.
After enjoying the guided tour in this place, we will travel to Andahuaylillas (15 minutes). Here we will take spectacular pictures in the middle of its picturesque square decorated with ancient pisonay trees and the chapel of Apostle Saint Peter.
Also called “the Sistine Chapel of America”, this religious building was built during the 17th century; it has one of the best selections of artistic jewels from the colonial period. It was one of the most important Jesuit church for the evangelization of the Peruvian Andes by great samples of European art with native features.
It is only compared to the chapel that Michelangelo painted in Rome!
Afterwards we will travel back to Cusco city on board the touristic transportation, although on the way (if you dare) you can taste delicious dishes of this area of the southern valley. Finally you will arrive at your hotel at 15:30 hours approx. End of the tour to Cusco southern valley.
