Then, we will keep traveling for 45 minutes more through a dirt road that has beautiful landscapes surrounded by Andean flora and fauna until we arrive to Soraypampa. From this place, we will began the 1 hour and 30 minutes hike towards the impressive Humantay Lagoon.
On the way to our destination, you will feel how the environment begins to envelop you in an indescribable peace!
This dreamlike lagoon boasts turquoise water that are usually much brighter when the sun rises. This peculiar color is due to the light phenomenon from the sun as well as the minerals that these Andean lands possess. These minerals are washed and transported to the lagoon by the water coming from the melt of the Humantay and Salkantay snow-capped mountains.
By the way, these two snow-capped mountains are considered sacred deities for the local people; moreover, Salkantay appears in many historical books as one of the main Apus for the Inca culture.
You will have enough time to rest for a while, enjoy the natural environment, meditate, take lots of pictures and even make your own apacheta. This is a small tower of stones used as a symbol of gratitude to the surrounding sacred mountains and snow-capped mountains.
Keep in mind that it is forbidden to drink the turquoise water of the Humantay Lagoon!
Afterwards, we will hike back through the same path for 1 hour on average until we reach our touristic transportation to head towards the restaurant in Mollepata. Here we will enjoy a delicious lunch.
Finally, we will travel back to your hotel in Cusco city to arrive at 17:30 hours approx. End of our services.
